Must watch film
Amazing cinematography and acting with a sense of humor that is rare in most historical movies. Movie centers around 3 fully realized female characters and their relationships which is groundbreaking. Story was also historically accurate and entertaining with a surprising amount of pathos interspersed throughout. All in all a great film and here’s to hoping it wins Best Picture at the Oscars!
Yorgos Lanthimos is a genius! It is the opposite of oscar-baity films which may sometimes seem boring to the general public. So much dark humour and entertainment! It is THE FAVOURITE film of all the Oscar contenders this year! ps. weisz and alwyn's voguing + colman's peformance gives it a 11/10
Might not be to everyone's taste but this was something out of the ordinary. The best part was the performance of all the three leading ladies, though I did also take a liking to Hoult's character. It might be a bit bizarre and can be quite weird at times but there were also a lot of wacky laugh out loud moments. My only gripe would be the ending, as I think it ended not with a bang but just kind of petered out. Still a decent film however.
A historical drama and a sex comedy. The film was great technically and narratively. Marvelously shot, capturing with elegance the grandeur of its setting through gorgeous steadicam and extravagant wide angles. Stone is ravishing as Abigail.
An allegorical study of the corruptive nature of power. The characters within the film live in a milieu of egotism, narcissism, sexual cruelty, psychological bullying, greed, and hunger for power. The real heart of the movie is Abigail's character arc and her rivalry with Sarah.
