The theme of forgiveness is run on several levels, simply but effectively. The portrayal of the difficult life in Germany after the war is well shown and makes for a dramatic backdrop. I genuinely felt raw vulnerability for her character as she breaks down whilst playing the piano. Phipps' classical score was lovely to listen to, enhancing the grandeur of its central abode.
