Oscars 2018: The Awards Ceremony's Funniest Moments Retold In GIFs

Here are some of the highlights from The 90th Academy Awards:

1. Jennifer Lawrence making fun of Emma Stone

Host Jimmy Kimmel made the inevitable La La Land/Moonlight mix-up joke and Jennifer Lawrence couldn't help but tease her gal pal Emma Stone, who was on stage during the huge debacle.

2. Host Jimmy Kimmel offers a jet ski for shortest speech of the night

In an effort to keep acceptance speeches short, Kimmel offered a jet ski, as modelled by Dame Helen Mirren to the shortest speech of the night.

3. But just in case the winners didn't take the hint, the host had other plans

He also enlisted the help of actor Lakeith Stanfield to re-enact his famous moment from last year's breakout horror thriller Get Out.

4. The stars gathered to give out snacks to an unsuspecting movie audience

Kimmel gathered some of the world's biggest stars such as Margot Robbie, Gal Gadot, Mark Hamill, Ansel Elgort, Emily Blunt, Lupita N'yongo and Armie Hammer to go next door to hand out a bunch of snacks to regular moviegoers.

5. Jodie Foster calls out Meryl Streep

While presenting the award for Best Actress, Jodie Foster showed up in crutches and joked that Meryl Streep "I, Tonya-ed" her, of course referring to Tonya Harding's infamous attack on opponent Nancy Kerrigan.

6. Tiffany Haddish and Maya Rudolph steals the show

The award for best announcers of the night went to Tiffany Haddish, the breakout start of Girls Trip, and Maya Rudolph, who both came out in slippers as their feet hurt from the shoes, and delivered a hysterical monologue.

7. Jennifer Garner's mini freak-out

The actress officially became the Internet's new favourite meme when she was spotted clapping at the ceremony, before coming into some sort of shocked realisation. "Did I leave the stove on?"

8. Frances McDormand's Impassioned Laugh

While picking up the award for Best Actress for her performance in Three Billboards, Frances McDormand delivered arguably the most memorable acceptance speech of the night, but her Joker-ish laughter was also probably one of the weirdest things we heard during the ceremony.

9. Guillermo del Toro's double confirmation

To perhaps avoid a repeat of last year's calamitous mix-up, Guillermo del Toro requested for a look at the announcement card, before gracefully accepting the award for Best Picture and smiling gleefully at the camera.
