A schoolteacher, Antoinette, is looking forward to spending the summer with her lover, who happens to be the father of one of her students. But her plan is ruined when the wife surprises him with a trekking holiday in the Cévennes National Park with their daughter. Antoinette then decides to tail the little family on their track, by herself, with a stubborn donkey named Patrick.
