Saw it last night at Glasgow. So good!
Isle of Dogs is a very fun stop-motion movie that's good for even stop-motion standards. Along with its greatly done animation, the plot is interesting as well. I like how this movie is set in Japan, I just wish Disney did the same too. Considering how Wes Anderson also made Fantastic Mr. Fox, expect something great out of this movie. This may not be for kids, but I guess 12 and up is a good enough age limit.
Unique animation and great story plot. I LOVE this movie a lot, although the movie poster doesn’t really speak for itself, but seriously, go watch it if you haven’t
Although the dogs in this movie look very much less animated than the cartoons we would see, the story line is actually very good, well carried off with humorous stuff
Wes Anderson is a very unique director in every sense of the word. This movie is as Wes Anderson as it could be, it is uniquely in his style, weird, off-beat but humorous and full of life. For me, Wes Anderson is one of those directors that if you told me that there’s a project coming up that he’s involved in, I’m all in! His style is completely unique and definitely a breathe of fresh air. I would highly recommend this movie and all of his other works!
I would like to start by saying I am a cat person. But this movie was brilliant, and Wes Anderson is an amazing storyteller. SO MUCH ATTENTION TO DETAIL!!
Ok first of all it’s great, one of the best movie that i watched this year. Without a doubt Wes Anderson did it again, the story is interesting, very plot driven and it’s beautifully crafted. Go and watch it and i am sure you’ll will love it.
Isle of Dogs” is filled with exquisite illustrations, whimsical flourishes and nostalgic details — old-fashioned labels, computer punch cards — that thicken the texture of its imaginary world
Great plot, great indirect humor. Awesome plot twist too! The animation style isn’t that of the run-of-mill anime or dreamworks — which is great. These factors set the movie apart, but at the same time might deter the regular movie-goer because “its doesn’t look cute” or “it looks usual”. The package of subtlety and nuances in the conversations might also be an acquired taste. So if you aren’t that big on language, then this might be a 4-Star for you.
I went to the cinema with high expectations for this movie. I was a little disappointed at the beginning, but as the story unfold, I was very much drawn into the touching storyline and the superb stop motion animation. I highly encourage you to watch this movie if you have not done so.
Huge fan of Wes and of stopmotion too, and was not disappointed! Love how each character has the space and depth to be introduced and developed. Such a refreshing, heartwarming and amusing story, especially considering how much the director actually hates dogs!
