Heroes in desperate times
It's a good idea if you don't know what Dunkirk is about, to read about it in Wikipedia. It would give you a good background on what is going on in the movie. Because this film by Chris Nolan does not spoonfeed you, the opening 5 minutes gives you the background to what is happening but that's it. You might be disappointed if you watch this wanting to know why Dunkirk happened but if you want to watch this knowing how the Dunkirk happened, this is it. Nolan's Dunkirk portrays the desperation of the English soldiers on Dunkirk beach with the Germans slowly closing in and the heroism and gallantry displayed by civilians, soldiers and airmen as they fought in the air, the land and the sea.
An epic production from start to finish. In typical Christopher Nolan fashion of storey telling(certainly NOT for fans of mission impossible-esque style), he leads the viewer to experience first hand, the sights, the sounds, the intense fear, the joy and emotions all across the spectrum that's humanly possible. Stellar cast that portrayed brilliantly the emotions of what one would have experienced AT THAT MOMENT in time. Gripping from start to end, extreme realism and great portrayal of the human spirit, the cruel reality of life, terrific music(zimmer duh!), awesome dogfights and superb cinematography. What a ride!
always loved watching war movies. this is probably one of the best i like. though dialogues are not much, but it’s all the actions that hyped the movie.
