Synopsis

This movie harkens back to a natural disaster which which struck the village of Lodalen in Nordfjord, Norway in 1905. An unstable mountainside slid into the sea, causing a massive tsunami that killed 63 people. Norway has more than 300 registered unstable mountainsides, and this movie provides a fictional account of such an event happening again, in present day.

In the picturesque town of Geiranger, a team of geologists are at work, constantly monitoring the nearby mountainside, the Akernes. As a registered unstable mountainside, the Akernes is expected to eventually fall out, creating an 80 meter tsunami that will crush everything in its path.

The head of the geologist team, Kristian Eikfjord (Kristoffer Joner), has just accepted a new job offer out of town, and is preparing to move together with his family. Then the alarm goes off, and disaster is inevitable. With less than 10 minutes to react, it becomes a race against time in order to save as many as possible including his own family.
