After three years of grinding, after the "The Mermaid", Stephen Chow did not let the fans wait for long, this time he brought this re-written "The King of New Comedy" as his movie for Year of the Pig. In order to take care of China's huge market, Stephen Chow used almost all the Chinese actors in the film. In fact, there is nothing wrong with it. Therefore, in addition to the Chinese market, it is necessary to rely on a full-fledged voice actor. Although this time the Cantonese dubbing has improved compared to the "The Mermaid" three years ago, myself still prefers the authentic Cantonese from the actor's mouth. There is a lack of "Hong Kong-style" non-conceived style, and there are more "middle"-style smiles. The key point is to tell the sadness of the background actor/actress . This movie is might not be a favorite comedy of Stephen Chow, but perhaps the best-looking New Year movie of the year! *
To remake an own masterpiece, I would expect something new or interesting! Unfortunately, I don see any! It is pretty flat and dry after all. It is an ok movie to watch, but not a good one!
This is not a remake version of the classic King of Drama but a new movie with totally new storyline but still touching . The movie revolve around a girl who doesn't give up even though she is looked down by other, checked by her BF , despise by her friend. Through struggle, hardship and tears, she managed to seize a golden opportunity to final become a real star I the film industry. This new king of comedy revolve more around family relationship instead of love and romance like in the old king of drama.
Good storyline from Stephen Chow, produced Harmen yau and amazing memories from the past movies! The sadness of the main story brings me tears in cinemas
