It's jail time for Louis Koo, Raymond Lam and Gordon Lam. But don't worry... they're not actually in trouble!
To fully immerse themselves in their roles for their upcoming Hong Kong crime thriller sequel P Storm, the trio opened up about the time they spent behind bars in hopes of capturing the realism of life in prison.
"The professionals would aid us in discipline and rules, the language used, what can and cannot be filmed, and also how to interact with criminals,” Koo said.
In P Storm, Koo plays William Luk, an ICAC officer who decides to infiltrate a prison as an inmate to conduct an investigation on millionaire psychopath Cao Yuen Yuen (Raymond Lam), who bribed officers of the Hong Kong Correctional Services (HKCS) from inside the prison.
The film marks the pair's first on-screen collaboration in 20 years, and Lam found the filming experience to be very challenging yet enlightening. He said: "I have never seen a real jail before. I have only seen it through photos so I was definitely surprised. With such a realistic setting, I really thought I was a criminal.”
They are joined by inmate Gordon Lam, who described his most memorable scene playing a bad guy in the movie.
“As criminals, we had to gather our soaps and towels. I remember the officer told us how to do it. I have never been a criminal so everything was new and interesting.”
Also in the film are Chrissie Chau, Kevin Cheng, Julian Cheung, Patrick Tam and Louis Cheung.
