Synopsis

Story of a small boy is forced to move out of Prague during World War 2 to a small village of Slavonice where he meets the rest of his family. He needs to make new friends and get used to a new life which is immensely different from what this city boy was used to.
Po strništi bos opens in 1943, and the Nazi threat is still real; precocious young Eda opens up a world of trouble when he inadvertently reveals that his father has been listening to resistance broadcasts over the radio.
Together with Mom the family packs up and moves to Dad’s family home in the countryside for the indefinite future to live with an extended family that includes a serious-minded grandfather, a soldier uncle, and a loud-mouthed aunt.
This film has been culled from the life of writer and co-star Zdenek Sverak, one of the most beloved actors in the Czech Republic and co-creator of the iconic Jara Cimrman, and directed by his son and longtime collaborator Jan Sverak.
