Francisca, 48, former staff member at the European Commission, has planned a quiet future for herself. Her only son, a restless drifter who is against her aspirations, disappears one day. Left at a loss, she boards the sailboat “À Flor do Mar” on impulse. To her amazement, memories of Portugal’s epic maritime history begin to emerge, the West/East divide and the refugee drama a constant presence. The journey grows troubled.
